I delivered my Range Rover Evoque trade-in vehicle to this Exeter dealership Wednesday 22nd October, inspected the Mini Countryman YL25VNX, signed the the purchase agreement and paid the balance on the understanding that the vehicle would be delivered to my London address the following Tuedsday 28th October. Due to an error by Vertu in re-registering/taxing the vehicle I am still awaiting delivery over 5 weeks later with no delivery date specified. I have no car so have (so far) hired a vehicle for 6 days at Vertu's expense. I have had to cancel insurance for the mini from 28th October at a cost of £58 which I will also claim from Vertu. I relied on the suggested (by Vertu) 28th October delivery date and would never have handed over my trade-in vehicle or insured the new vehicle from this date if this contingent issue had been brought to my attention.
I will certainly seek compensation from Vertu over and above the car hire/insurance fees for the stress and inconvenience this has caused me (I normally travel weekly between my properties in Central London and rural Suffolk, but this has been impeded by the inconvenience of hiring a temporary vehicle).
I wish to point out that the salesman involved has been pleasant and helpful at all times, but this appears to be a systemic failure at Vertu, compounded by DVLA's lethargic processing, I understand this may not be the sole instance of this problem at Mini Exeter.
Vertu MINI Exeter were fantastic because I received great service and helpful advice from start to finish. Matt was extremely patient and friendly guiding me through the process.
